The record of her birth lists many other children whose fathers are not listed but mother's names are. Though there is no title to the record, it surely must be a list of unwed mothers in Boston?

She is listed in the Massachusetts Birth Records as the mother of Mary, b. May 1889, Boston. No parents are listed for Jennie, which wouldn't be uncommon in records of a home for unwed mothers. However, a Jennie Felt, b. 1870, Templeton, MA married Waldo Orlando Puffer in Dec 1889 in Ashburnham, MA. It's possible that this is her, having a child out of wedlock, only to marry the father some months after the child's birth? No other "Jennie" Puffer fits the dates and places.
