He attended the public schools at Concord Junction and the West Acton Grammar School. He learned the trade of weaver. For a number of years he has kept a variety store at Pawtucket, RI, where his is now living. He is a member of the Masonic order and is a Baptist in religion. He belongs to the following foreign Masonic bodies: The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Grand Orient of Naples; Ancient and Primitive Rite; Rite of Memphis; Rite of Mizraine.

The RI State Census of 1915 shows him being born in England. He was a weaver in a cotton mill at that time.

According to his WWI Draft Registration Card he was a lace maker at the Seekonk Lace Co, in Brookfield, RI (1918)

At last accounts he lived in Clarendon, VT. According to the 1910 US Federal Census he was living with his daughter Florence and family and widowed. In 1930 he was living with his son, William and family in Pawtucket, RI.
