Notes |
- Alfred McDonald, of Dana, a merchant of that city, died on Tuesday night of last week from the effects of a wound received at the first battle of Manassa Junction, Va., during the late war. He was a confederate soldier, and served in a South Carolina regiment, in which state he was born in 1845. The ball lodged in the back part of his head, forever after rendering him unfit for the service. He came north in 1863, residing in this county and Parke ever since. The deceased was united in wedlock to Miss Deema Rhoads in 1868. His wife survives him. His funeral was preached in the Baptist church of that city, on Thursday last by Rev. Thomas Griffith, of Montezuma, where his remains were taken for interment
