Notes |
- He was a farmer. Removed to DeKalb Junction, NY. He had always suffered from severe mood swings and "melancholy". In early 1923 his condition worsened and he stopped talking to neighbors and became more violent. His mental illness progressed to the point where he ended up hanging himself from a beam in a barn after he had cut his wife's throat. His eldest daughter was away taking the middle two children to school at the time, with the youngest being left at home. He was unharmed, but ran from the house to tell his sister about what happened when she returned.
A Civil War Veteran with Company H, 188th NY Inf.
