- The legal grounds or cause of divorce was "Desertion". My mother and her children were told by my father to "get out", from what little information I got from her. She never told the whole story of their separation/divorce. He was the plaintiff in the divorce and it's hard to imagine that desertion was the cause, when he was the one to tell us all to get out.
