    • According to his 1918 WWI Draft Registration Card he was a refrigeration engineer at The Automatic Refrigerator Co., in Hartford, CT.

      Lewis Puffer killed himself when Margaret was pregnant with Jean. He threw himself in front of a train on Windsor Street, Hartford, CT. Margaret raised Jean on her own. When Jean moved to California, Margaret joined her and they lived together in Oakland until her death.
