Notes |
- After WWII she joined her husband (Nelson Young) on Guam and taught at Guam Junior High School. In 1946 they moved to Tinian Island where her husband was involved in an agricultural project of resettling the Chamorro people. After a year (1948) the couple returned to St. John, WA, where Mrs. Schierman began teaching. The couple later divorced. She wrote a book, “We Got Here From There,” about the early history of the St. John schools and later wrote a book about the year she spent on Tinian. She enjoyed music and sang in the St. John Methodist choir for many years.
