- served as a private in the 9th Massachusetts Infantry during the civil war and ws an ardent Irish Nationalist and a leader of the Fenian Brotherhood in Boston, which later earned him the nickname "Dynamite Driscoll" with his collaboration with Jeramiah O'Donovan Rossa (5747054) for Irish Independence. Driscoll died of cancer of the tongue.
