A fter his wife's death, he lived with his daughter, Mercy, and his son-i n-law, Daniel Reed, at Cummington, then moved to Denmark, Lewis Co., NY , to live with his son James. In the history of Lewis County by Hough, it is recorded that on July 4, 1 826, "Lowville, the county seat, joined in celebrating the semi-centenn ial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Fifty-five Revol utionary veterans were present a the dinner, among them, Jacob Nash, De nmark, former resident Braintree, age 90" Mrs. Mary Ashley, his grand-daughter, says in letter to Gilbert Nash, " He was of medium size, fair complexion, blue eyes and a long beard. He d ressed in short breeches, long stockings and knee buckles. He was a fi ne singer, as were all his children."
