- He was the founder of the firm Scott & Browne, dealers in proprietary medicines, of which Scott's Emulsion is one of the best known. The firm has branches in England, Paris, Milan and Spain. He was interested also in Brazilian Railroads. He died in the prime of his life, having won a phenomenal success in business. (Ed. note: Scott's Emulsion is still being sold today (2013) around the world)
