She was a woman of great energy, and it is related of her that on the d ay of the battle of Bunker Hill, when Colonel Timothy Pickering halted h is company for a few minutes near the south meeting house at Danvers, s uch was her impatience at the delay that she walked up to the captain a nd said: "Why on earth don't you march ; don't you hear the guns at Cha rlestown?"
