    Buried:
    According to the Mt Hope Interment Records (http://www.lib.rochester.edu/IN/RBSCP/Databases/IMAGES/MtHope/disc2/00000672.pdf), Samuel Puffer was removed to the Southwest 1/4 of Lot 218 in Section Y (after originally being buried in the [Old] Single Graves). The plot map for this lot (available here: http://crpc.nyrgs.org/) confirms his burial at this location along with two other family members. However, there is no surviving markers for any of the Puffer's buried here (in agreement with a survey of surviving legible markers in Section Y that was done in the 1980s: http://mcnygenealogy.com/cem/mthope-sec-y.htm). This is a photo of the location, looking toward the southeast. The Seif's in the left background are in the Northwest 1/4 of Lot 218, while the Frear's in the right foreground are in Northwest 1/4 of neighboring lot 217. The unmarked region in between is where the Puffer's should be.

    He joined the Congregational Church at Sudbury, May 26, 1786, by profession of faith, was chosen deacon, Sept 14, 1807, continuing in that office until his death, a period of 35 years. He was an energetic, industrious and prominent citizen, highly respected by his townsmen. When he died 11 of his 13 children were living, and 50 of his 65 grandchildren, of whom but one was married. He was captain of the militia.
