Was for many years engaged in extensive mercantile and milling enterprises in Danvers and Salem. He was in partnership with his brother John having a large mercantile store in Salem and flouring and grain mill in Danvers. They were energetic, capable and straightforward business men and enjoyed a very high reputation in all trade circles.
