- Civil War Veteran, private in the MA 43rd Regt. Infantry, U.S.Army.; also in the 57th Infantry for three years.
He was a shoemaker by trade and lived for a time in Milford, MA.
For many years after the war he was a traveling salesman for the B.T. Babbitt soap company.
Described as having a dark complexion, grey eyes with dark hair.
He was 5 feet 6 inches tall.

Service Record:
Enlisted as a Private on 20 August 1862 at the age of 39
Enlisted in Company K, 43rd Infantry Regiment MA on 20 August 1862.
Mustered out Company K, 43rd Infantry Regiment MA on 30 July 1863
Enlisted in Company H, 57th Infantry Regiment MA on 11 January 1864.
Captured on 06 May 1864 at Wilderness, VA and was a POW at Andersonville Prison. Exchanged on 27 November 1864 (Absent until discharged)
Received a disability discharge Company H, 57th Infantry Regiment Massachusetts on 17 June 1865
According to the US Adjutant General Military Records, he was killed on Mar 10, 1863. We know he was a POW so he may have been mistakenly listed as KIA.
His headstone was provided by Lee Marble Works, Lee, MA contracted on Aug 25, 1902
