Notes - Parents moved to Peterborough Co. from Leeds Co., when 8 years of age, then to Dresden, Ontario, Canada, when 13 years of age; thence to Illinois at 14 and to MI at 16 yrs.; went to Alberta early in 1890; worked at farming and lumbering; was a pioneer in Alberta; homesteading and farming in the spring of '95; started in the meat and cattle trade at Lacombe, Ontario and for several years also conducted a lumber yard and machine business. elected to the first Alberta Legislature, Nov., 1905; re-elected by acclamation, 1909
