- ALEXANDER McKAUGHAN: the first we found him was in Breckenridge County, K entucky in 1840. Fr om his age on the census, and his children's ages, i t looks like he could have been between H ugh and Forrester. 1840 Breckenridge County census:
ALEXANDER McKAUGHAN 1 male over 40 under 50 1 male over 10 under 15 1 male over 15 under 20 1 female over 40 under 50 There could have been older children gone by this time. By 1850. Alexander McKaughan had started using the spelling of McCann. W e could not find an y McCann's around Stephensport today. There are ho wever many around Louisville, Kentucky. T he ones I called did not kno w their ancestory. One has been a Senator. At one time there was a McConn living 2 miles west of Versailes, Kentuc ky, on the McConn ferr y pike. We don't know where he fits in. Supplied by: Nancy Van Antwerp.
