    • In 1946 six of her seven children were given into the temporary custody of relatives after being found living in squalid conditions. She was sentenced to serve an indeterminate term in the Sherborn Reformatory for Women, charged with neglecting her four boys and three girls, ranging in age from 11 months to 10 years. Their father was at sea at the time as a merchant marine.
