    • Among his many gifts and titles, Andrew Tabbutt was a sea captain, farmer and an elder in his church. He was a man who lived his religion.

      Sacrificing greatly to be faithful to his beliefs, he and his wife, Phebe, sold what they had to move their family to Palestine. They envisioned preparing the land for the end of the diaspora, not to convert the Jewish people, but for their return. Those who went with them became known as the American or Jaffa Colony.

      Although they felt like failures, their descendants' honor and respect them for their courage to change their stars and follow their hearts
