"Alfred Puffer was a coal heaver on-board the USS Unadilla and USS Princeton, he was not a captain in any sense. He only told his brother Norman he was a Captain as a boast. He was a private (ed. note "seaman") at best. Had no title. His boast was preserved in the "Puffer Genealogy" but is not fact based. He was a story-teller." FaG member #47684453
