  Postmaster of Scrooby. Personal secretary to William Davison, Secretary of State under Queen Elizabeth. Publisher and printing press owner. Plymouth Church Elder. From Scrooby, Co. Nottinghamshire, England, about 5 4-years old. His home was used as a church for the Separtists movement, which disavowed the Church of England as the true Christian church. In Dec 1607 County officials came to his home and arrested him (and other followers) and imprisoned them for practicing his 'religion'. After his release he moved his family to Holland. Where he and his wife and 2 sons sailed on the Mayflower.
