Notes - He lived in Stoughton and owned half a pew in the church there. He was a soldier in the French and Indian War, a private in Major Steven Miller's company, Colonel Miller's regiment, May 3, 1757 (then aged sixty years) on the alarm list.
His headstone, one of the original proprietors, "Old Lieutenant Puffer," as he was called, is in a sad condition; it is broken so as to be almost illegible, and some kind hand has set it up against the wall.
