    [nash99ja.GED.FTW] About the year 1767, three brothers, Joseph, Samuel, and James NASH, so ns of John Nash of Braintree, MA came from North Yarmouth, ME to Pleasa nt River. James settled upon the lot that was later owned by Jerome Al line. After living there for a short time, he sold out his claim to Is aiah Nash, a son of Joseph Nash. James went into the Army and never re turned to Addison. Served in defense of Machias during Battle of the Margaretta on 12 JUN 1 775, for which he received 18 Pounds share of the prize money.

    [nash99ja.GED.FTW] About the year 1767, three brothers, Joseph, Samuel, and James NASH, so ns of John Nash of Braintree, MA, came from North Yarmouth, ME to Pleas ant River. Samuel settled upon the lot on the ridge next south of the C olumbia line. Samuel died on the lot where he first settled. He had six acres of marsh included in Marsh Lot One, west side of Pleas ant River and another lot, one acre and ninety rods of marsh, being par t of above lots, and one hundred acres of land, no number being given b ut reference being made to Lathrop Lewis Plan. He was at Pleasant River, 27 APR 1778, with five in his family. He had a settler's lot deeded to him 2 JUN 1794 under act of 21 JUN 179 3. His lot was on "the Ridge" in Addison next to the Columbia line.

    About the year 1767, three brothers, Joseph, Samuel, and James NASH, sons of John Nash of Braintree, MA came from North Yarmouth, ME to Pleasant River. Joseph took and settled upon the lot at Addison Point, upon which the village of Addison Point is mostly built. A great majority of the Nashes in that region and county are directly descended of Joseph, the eldest of the three brothers. On 29 Aug 1748, Benjamin Dunbar of Hingman sold him one-fifth or one-half share of Proprietor's Right in North Yarmouth, ME for 30 Pounds. On 7 Nov 1754, he sold his interest in his father's estate, and also his interest in the portion of two young brothers and a sister all lately deceased to his brother Samuel Nash of Braintree. Nathaniel Blanchard of North Yarmouth, sold Joseph (they were brothers-in-law, Blanchard having married Hannah Shaw in Weymouth in 1726) of North Yarmouth, 15 SEP 1758, for 40 Pounds, land in North Yarmouth adjoining where John Farrow then dwelt. He moved to Pleasant River about 1766. He was there 27 APR 1778, with eight in his family. He bought four hundred acres of land, also six acres and forty rods of marsh, being lots 17 east side of Pleasant River, and numbers 14, 15, 16 on the west side of the river, also another lot of eight acres and one hundred forty rods, and another of twenty-two acres and one hundred ten rods of marsh, being parts of lots named above.

In the Fall of 1774, he sugg ested that Braintree raise and equip three companies of Minute Men of f orty men each. The Council so voted and the men were chosen. One of t he one hundred and twenty was Jacob Nash. When the Lexington alarm was s ounded, April 19, 1775, Paul Revere and many others rode up and down th e country side, summoning men to arms. The records show that Jacob Nas h was one who "responded to the Lexington Alarm, April 19, 1775." He sold his Braintree property about 1780 and moved to Cummington, MA. A fter his wife's death, he lived with his daughter, Mercy, and his son-i n-law, Daniel Reed, at Cummington, then moved to Denmark, Lewis Co., NY , to live with his son James. In the history of Lewis County by Hough, it is recorded that on July 4, 1 826, "Lowville, the county seat, joined in celebrating the semi-centenn ial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Fifty-five Revol utionary veterans were present a the dinner, among them, Jacob Nash, De nmark, former resident Braintree, age 90" Mrs. Mary Ashley, his grand-daughter, says in letter to Gilbert Nash, " He was of medium size, fair complexion, blue eyes and a long beard. He d ressed in short breeches, long stockings and knee buckles. He was a fi ne singer, as were all his children."
